After a fantabulous summer for England, they now face a long gap until their next Test in Dubai in January, interspersed with the forthcoming five ODIs in India. With nine of the first XI essentially penned in already, it will be interesting to see any of the youngsters perform on the India tour, or if any of the Lions and performance squad players can manoeuvre their way into the squad. The fourth day of the penultimate round of championship matches saw some vital victories that ensure all significant matters are unresolved going into the final week.
The third day of this round of County Championship matches was not too badly affected by the weather (even Glamorgan had play) and there will be a lot of tension tomorrow, with no games yet resolved.

Due to the rain in Chester-le-Street that forced the first One Day International to be abandoned, this series does not feel like it is properly underway yet. Let’s hope it gets going in Southampton instead.
