After England dragged themselves back into the game, Sri Lanka’s tail wagged furiously for the second time in the match to put the home side into an almost unassailable position.
In a rain-affected Test, Kane Williamson scored a brilliant, match-saving century to deny South Africa a 2-0 series win. Oh, and Graeme Smith made one of the great declarations to give him a hand.
Mahela Jayawardene played a lone hand in scoring a high-class hundred which guided Sri Lanka towards a competitive first innings score.
England go to Sri Lanka needing a strong performance in tough conditions to reaffirm their status on top of the pile. With South Africa almost certain to win in New Zealand, they must win this series if they are to hold on their ranking. It all kicks off bright and early Monday morning…

Like London buses, none for ages and then…blah blah blah. London buses are in fact nothing like that. They would, however, probably be able to put up more of a fight against the rest of the Alphabet XI’s than this lot.
